Water Treatment

Watermaiden are water treatment specialists. We employ a range of water treatment processes and filters to offer bespoke solutions for our customers.

We have the revolutionary Silt Doctor series in our arsenal which offer the most compact and robust suspended solid filtration on the market.

For those extremely fine particulate services, we also have the patent pending Fibre Filter.

GEOBAG FILTRATION

IMG-20250129-WA0016_edited.jpg

Geobag dewatering filters are large porous membrane bags that can take an exceptionally high liquid and solids flow. The solids are retained inside the bag and the water is released through the pores of the geobag suspended solid free.

We have different geobags that can handle an extended range of sludge sources, even those that contain oil. Aside from the high flowrate and settling capacity, geobags offer the additional benefit of producing a stackable filter cake if left for a matter of weeks. This passive drying step means that the final filtrate is free of water and therefore directly reduces the number of tonnes of waste that needs exported. Put simply, our customers do not pay to export water in their waste: this is how dry the filtrate is.

Chemical sludges can also be treated through the geobags, when used in combination with a chemical resistant liner. We have even filtered gypsum through the bags.

Watermaiden offers a full installation, operation and waste removal service meaning the customer doesn’t have to deal with any of the process. We also have a skilled civils team who can build bunds to hold the geobags if required.

WEDGE WIRE SCREENS

Wedge wire screens are types of filtration systems commonly used to separate particles from liquids or gases in industrial applications. These filters are excellent at filtering large solids from a liquid stream. They can handle high flow rates and don't get blocked. So much so, they can even be used in rivers to filter debris.Wedge Wire ScreensPurpose: Wedge wire screens are specialized filtration elements that consist of V-shaped wires welded onto a supporting frame.

OIL & WATER SEPERATORS

Oil and Water Separators (OWS) are systems designed to remove oil or other hydrocarbons from water in industries like oil and gas, manufacturing, and wastewater treatment. They typically use gravity, coalescing filters, or centrifugal force to separate the oil, which is less dense than water and floats to the surface.

SILT DOCTOR - HYDROCYCLONES

DSCF1696.jpg

Watermaiden are the proud owner of the Silt Doctor technology. The DR10 and the DR40 are ultra compact hydrocyclone liquid filters. These are the Dyson filters of the water treatment industry. The solids are effectively spun out of solution, resulting in a stream that is suspended solids free. These filters are modular and can easily be linked in parallel to achieve any desired flow.

It’s commonly employed in industries like mining, water treatment, and chemical processing, especially where space requirements are limited.

These filters are so light they are easily manoeuvred by hand.

Hydrocyclones are used for various applications, such as solid-liquid separation, classification, and concentration. They are particularly effective when the size difference between the particles is significant and when high throughput with low energy consumption is needed.

LAMELLA INCLINED PLATE SEPARATORS

Lamella inclined plate separators are used to separate suspended solids or oils from liquids, often in wastewater treatment or industrial processes. These filters are perfect for providing a large surface area for settling with minimal foot print, where traditional lagoons are not practical.

FIBRE FILTER

This patent pending filter is capable of filtering down to one micron. It uses a unique filter media of hair or carbon fibre strands, to trap particulates. The differentiating factor that makes the fibre filter stand out against traditional material filters, is their ability to be backflushed in under a second, this can be done whilst in service. This backflush step is automatic and can be repeated indefinitely.
